The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers,
not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women
to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste,
keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of
God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:3-5
Mission
The Deaconess Ministry serves our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to love, support, assist, and pray for our Pastor; and to serve the needs of this congregation and community. For God has called us to do All That We Can, The Best That We Can, For As Long As We Can, While We can, "For the Ministry of Jesus Christ".
The mission also includes being supportive to the Deacons of Historic First Ebenezer Baptist Church. Women who serve the Lord by faithfully extending hearts and hands to service our Church, its ministries, its families, and each other in the following ways. Serve the church corporate by assisting in the preparation and administration of baptism, communion, memorial and receptions
Deaconess are women who are grave, sober, faithful, prudent, devout, and blameless. Serve the Church Family by praying and offering benevolence for a period of time to those needing tender loving care.
Purpose
The Deaconess Ministry is obedient to His Word.
Deaconesses are visible in many of the church ministries, and some of us serve as president or hold some type of leadership position in those ministries.
On Sunday mornings, you will find deaconesses at the side entrance of the church shaking hands, giving hugs, and welcoming members, visitors and friends to the house of God.
We consider it an honor to participate in the two ordinances of the Baptist church which are the Baptism and the Holy Communion. We assist the candidates before and after baptism, and we dress the table for communion. We accept these obligations with dignity and Humility.
They educate themselves in His works to pass on to the next generation the commands He has given us. They give their bodies as a living and holy sacrifice.
